SS Edmund Fitzgerald in HO scale

This detailed cast-resin model is patterned after the famous Great Lakes ore boat Edmund Fitzgerald, but was identical to others in the Cleveland-Cliffs fleet. The kit builds into a whopping 522 scale-foot waterline model (waterline means it can be placed on top of a water surface on any layout without modification).

Included are the bow, stern and two 12" long center sections. To make a scale-length model (over 8' long), two additional center sections (#502 sold separately) can be added. Other features of this impressive model include etched-metal parts and decals. It'll add realism to any scene that includes the Cornerstone Ore Dock.

Check out the warping sheaves (mounted on the sides of the ship, cables from the winches are passed through these and passed down to the dock to pull the boat along an ore dock, unloading crane, or to position it as the ship passes though a lock.)
Spar deck light poles.
Galley roof details including diesel oil tanks, vents, ventilation fans, and the smoke stack.

Launched on June 7th, 1958, the Edmund Fitzgerald was the first "Maximum size" Laker ever constructed, and among the most famous of the Great Lakes ore boats. Measuring 729 ft. long with a beam (width) of 75 ft., "Big Fitz" lived up to her nickname breaking numerous bulk shipping records during her career. Well known along her route, she is now remembered for her tragic demise. She was lost with all hands during a raging storm the night of November 10th, 1975.
